So when we see a jar of baby food
(home made or store bought) we automatically think of it as only something to
use with a baby. Why? I know it is marketed that way but if we really stop to
think about, what is baby food? In the most simplistic terms baby food is pureed
fruits and veggies. These liquefied fruits and veggies can pack a nutritional
punch to MANY foods. Also they can create a delicious flavor and texture within
the foods. I know I may have lost many of you by now but bear with me and see
how easy and yummy it really can be.
- Let's start off simple: Try some
apple baby food in your apple oatmeal. Or some sweet potato in you maple and
brown sugar. I may my oatmeal from scratch most of the time but even when I use
the store bought packet these slip in super easy. - Try some butternut squash in your
alfredo or Marnia sauce. It gives the sauce a more creamy texture. - When making whole wheat (or even
regular) pancakes replace 1/2 cup a milk with 4oz of baby food. I really love
bananas, apples, and plum. I usually put in a different one each time I make
them to make it something new each time. - When making granola bars replace the
egg and brown sugar with 3 ounces of either apple or banana baby
food. - Easy popsicles. That one is kinda
easy lol - A easy nutritional boost to smoothies
and protein shakes that add a nice flavor - Most cookies you can replace 1/4
cup of milk for 2 ounces of baby food
